IWPL Gives Rubber a Second Life

At Irish Waterjet Profile – Global Rubber Solutions, we’re serious about using materials wisely. Our equipment is designed to minimize waste, but some offcuts will inevitably occur, and we strive to minimize waste, although this variation ranges from 6% to 10%. Instead of treating them as rubbish, we reuse them for different purposes.

Turning Offcuts into Something Useful

Rubber leftovers are part of the job, but they don’t have to end up in a skip. In our facility, each scrap is collected and put through a specialised shredding machine. The result is clean, reusable rubber granules.

A Better Surface for Horses

These shredded granules are then used to make softer surfaces for equestrian arenas across Ireland. Now supports a healthier ground for horses—showing how simple, practical recycling can make a real difference.

Rubber Equestrian Arena

For horses, the rubber arena offers excellent shock absorption, improved traction, and consistent footing that reduces strain on a horse’s joints and minimizes injury risks.

For owners, this type of footing also brings practical advantages—requiring less maintenance, producing less dust, and holding up better over time compared to traditional surfaces. Its ability to perform well in various weather conditions keeps arenas usable year-round, making rubber a smart, long-term investment that enhances both horse
performance and overall facility value.

Why It Matters for Us

This work is a small but solid example of the circular economy. By keeping materials in use for longer, we cut down on landfill waste, reduce our environmental impact, and support other industries with useful, reclaimed material.
